Here's to you.

Here’s to the kids who try their hardest to be good enough for everyone; who spend hours reading random quotes to find the right one; who listen to the same song dozens of times because the lyrics mean a lot; who deserve so much more than they get and are willing to fight for it and whose wish upon a shooting star was wasted on someone that will never care.

I just saw this quote on my one of my best friends tumbler, (kelly from the princess blog) and it made me smile.

If you need a shoulder, I'm here.

Favorite drugstore mascaras.

When I was in junior high, and wearing makeup was like the coolest thing..one of the only products I was aloud to use was mascara. Now, it's one of my favorite products ever!
Mascara helps to make your eyes look open and awake. I always have loved long, voluminous lashes. I've found that you do not need to wear 9 pounds of mascara and stick on fake lashes to accomplish this.
My top three drugstore mascaras consist of:

1. Voluminous by L'Oreal in the shade blackest black.

I heard about this mascara in an interview in a magazine, and Lauren Conrad actually said this was on of her favorites...so being an obsessive fan I had to try it out. I fell inlove! It doesn't clump, and stays on all day. It retails for $6.99.

2. Doll Eye by NYX in black.

I heard about this product from watching a couple of reviews of it on Youtube. All votes were pretty much unanimous about it, and I'll have to agree..the mascara is amazing! The only thing I don't like is the stiffness of the wand, but other than that I can't complain. BTW, it's only like 10 dollars!

3.L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara in blackest black.

Honestly, I bought this product because of all the hype that came with it. If you know nothing about this mascara, know that the wand of it is barely a wand at all, it's a ball with little spikes! At first I hated it, but after a while I tried it again, and fell in love with it! It's good for length, and lower lashes, and retails at about 9 dollars.

What are your favorite mascaras? Let me know!

Senior Year, September.

Just a few pictures from this September, my last September as a high school student.
I love every single person in these pictures.
Thank you for being in my life.
-Kristen.

Potential.

Long Island in the Autumn is one of the most beautiful places to be. My best friend just moved right next to this insane nature preserve, with pathways and broken down houses. Hopefully I'll be doing a post from there soon, but for now, here's a taste..

Talk to you soon.

Daddy.

September Twenty Sixth, Nineteen Sixty Two ,the most amazing man in my life was born.
Someone who influences me on a daily basis and makes sure I'm safe, and happy.
Someone I love.
Someone who loves me.
Someone who is strong.
Someone who is hardworking.
Someone I look up to.
Someone I call daddy.

A lot of people now-a-days can't say they have a strong relationship with parents, especially at seventeen. But I love my dad.

Here's to you, daddy. Thank you for everything you've done for me these past seventeen years. I hope I make you as proud as you make me.

Happy birthday.
Love Always,

Your little chicky.

Inspiration six: Autumn

Usually all of my inspiration posts are about people who have well, influenced me in some way. This one is a bit different.

If you haven't noticed, there is something different outside lately. That certain chill in the air that makes leaves fall from trees, and sleeping so much better.

Thank you, Mother Nature, for blessing us with a beautiful season called Autumn.

If you're not inspired by fall, you obviously do not like fashion...because fall is when ALL of the cutest looks hit the runway. Fashion week in New York actually just ended about two weeks ago.

My favorite trends of Autumn, are :

Deep red lips:

I don't know why, but for some reason..red lips signify the coming of winter to me. Odd, but you start to see more people daring to wear deep reds on their lips around autumn and winter. Deep red lips usually go well with most skintones, so ..Try it out!

Cardigan sweaters:

Obviously I love cardigans, so I am so happy that they are making a comeback on runways and in stores. Any long sleeve, loose or fitted cardigan can complete an outfit!

Boots/Booties:

Two years ago, if you would have told me that I would be infatuated with calf/knee high boots, I probably would have slapped you. A huge trend this fall is leather riding boots, or just knee high heeled boots in general. They vamp up an outfit from casual to cute. Booties have also been stampeding the runway this fall, and they look REALLY cute with skinny jeans, and even dresses!

Lace:

Lace has always dominated runways because of it's elegant appeal. Lace suddenly turns an outfit classy, and makes everything a bit more fabulous. Everything from lace tanktops, to lace leggings have been seen in stores from Walmart to Saks!

These are just a few to kick off inspiration posts again. If you can think of more trends you've seen on the runway or in stores that you love, let me know!

Enjoy the fall, everyone!

Product Review: Conair Infinity

Have you ever found yourself wondering how Taylor Swift gets her hair to look perfectly curled every single time she appears in front of a camera or microphone? Well, if you answered yes to that, we'd get along great, because I know I do.

The answer wasn't that hard to find. Her hair is naturally like that and is touched up with a curling iron. But any old curling iron won't produce spiral curls like she has.

You'll need an iron with no clamp, meaning the piece that normally holds the hair in place as your wind the hair around the barrel.

You can find them anywhere, and I know that a lot of them are really reallllly expensive, meaning like two hundred dollars. Me, being cheap.. was not going out and spending two hundred dollars on an iron.

WELL, like usual, I was in target one day and found the answer to my prayers. It's the "Conair Infiniti " You Curl"" curling iron. Its the same thing as the hundred and something dollar impersonators and does the exact same thing, but for a much afforable price. It heats up to 400 degrees and has 5 heat settings. It retailed in Target for like forty dollars....AMAZING.

What you do, is press the on button and choose a heat setting, give it about 45 seconds, then take any size piece of hair and wrap it around the barrel. In all truth, it does feel awkward because you do have to hold the hair in place yourself, which you usually don't with a normal iron. For a strong tight curl, hold the hair in place for about 20-30 seconds, for looser curls, give it about 10-15. After you've curled your whole head, run your fingers through, and shake your head out to loosen the curls up a bit. Then, flip your head and spray your hair lightly with a good hairspray to help secure the curls.

And the results will probably look something like this..

Simply, and honestly, the best forty dollars I've ever spent in my life. Because of the fact that it heats up so quickly, it takes me around 15 minutes to curl my whole head..which with a regular iron would probably take around an hour. I like to sleep late, so that extra forty five minutes is heavenly. Also, the curls last really long, and you can sleep with them in and still wake up with perfect hair.

I would definitely recommend trying this iron out if you like the effect or look of Taylor Swift style hair.

BUON bei capelli!
( enjoy your beautiful hair!)

Fabric Styling

So I know it's been a while since I've posted, but if you didn't know, I got a job and I'm a senior in highschool...so life is a bit hectic right now.

Just because I'm a geek, and completely obsessed with fashion, I decided to not only take fashion retail classes at my school, but to take a Saturday course at FIT!

WELL...I've officially signed up for a class, which starts October second, and it is called Fabric styling for fashion. The description on the site reads: "do your friends always ask you to help them pick out clothes and decide what to wear? Do you often look through fashion magazines? Perhaps a career in celebrity or photo styling is for you. Study color, pattern, texture, and the skills necessary to make it all together."

I'm so excited!
WISH ME LUCK.

Nine.

284,012,334 seconds, 4,733,538.90 minutes , 78,892 hours..3,287 days..108 months.. nine years. Yet it feels like yesterday.

I live in New York, I have for 17 years and 7 months. September 11th, 2001 was 9 years ago today. I was in elementary school, and about an hour after class started, the class emptied out to about six kids, including me. No one knew what was going on, the teacher kept leaving the room, the windows were locked, blinds closed, radios off. The school shielded the students (who hadn't already left from the world). They had to hide the fact that the United States, who stood so tall, was under attack by terrorists..people who hated us, who didn't care that they were about to viciously murder thousands of helpless, selfless, innocent victims. The world stopped moving. Lives were stolen. Mothers, fathers, children, sisters, brothers, friends, coworkers, strangers..were taken from this world.

September 11th, a day that will forever live on in history as a day that the US stood together, for once, even for one of those seconds, and believed in strength. The strength of the fire fighters, the police, the emts, the workers, everyone..who was on the east coast the day of the attacks. The day the planes crashed, the towers collapsed, the tears fell.

Even if you're not from New York, tell someone you love them today. Life's too short, you never know what's going to happen when you get in your car, on a train, a plane, or go to work. It's too delicate to waste hating, fighting, and simply not enjoying the moments we have here. Light a candle in remembrance, and pray for those who lost their loved ones, those who lost it all.

Rest in Peace, you beautiful angels. You will never be forgotten, ever.

Last party of summer 2010.

Innocence, pure and sweet.

Last Thanksgiving, my cousin and her husband were blessed with the birth of a baby girl..Ava. She's getting so big now and I can't believe it! My cousin brought her over the other afternoon, and she's such a big, beautiful girl.

I'm thankful everyday, and can only hope that such a cute baby will grow up to be a successful girl, teen, and woman!
Thanks for bringing her over Lisa, we wish it would happen more often!
